Together with Asia Foods,
better health & better living ~
Asia Foods was incorporated in 1976 to engage in the processing and export of frozen vegetables. At the time of its establishment, the Company was one of Taiwan's first frozen vegetable processor. Since then the Company, under the guidance of Founder President Lin Chang Chi, has become one of the leading and largest multinational supplier and manufacturer of frozen vegetables in the Pacific Rim. In 2001, total sales reached 30,000 tons and we expect it to increase at a moderate pace.

Currently, Asia Foods has five core factories; one is located in Taiwan and four in China. Of these five factories, four process conventional frozen vegetables, one processes frozen organic vegetables, all for markets worldwide. Aside from our core factories, Asia Foods has an investment in two factories which process frozen kabayaki eel and another that process frozen prepared seafood. We are also involved in the import trading of frozen French fries, corn and green peas for the Taiwan domestic market. More recently, the Company through Asia Farm has ventured into the retail service business, launching its first delicatessen shop in Taiwan in 2001. Finally, we have recently joint ventured with Taiwan Uni President Group and Japan Musashino Group to produce Japanese rice balls and bento boxes for the Taiwan domestic market.
To date, Asia Foods has been growing at a faster rate than that of the industry average. We attribute our successful growth to the Company philosophy of offering its customers high quality, healthy and safe products at a reasonable price. As an extension of this philosophy, the Company has implemented and adhered to six important strategies, which over the years, have resulted in the Company not only developing a competitive advantage but also solidifying its strong reputation in the frozen food industry.
| First |
To secure quality raw products at low price, core production facilities were shifted from Taiwan to China, and such moves will continue to new countries as deemed appropriate.
|
| Second |
To better retain the freshness of its raw products, factories were located closer to the plantation fields all within an hour distance.
|
| Third |
To guarantee the quality of its raw products, the Company works closely with contracted farmers from the actual seed selection process to the timing of harvest. In addition, we continuously strive to improve the crop yields, flavor, harvest techniques, insect control, and the use of fertilizers, chemicals and pesticides.
|
| Fourth |
To minimize processing time, maintain freshness and preserve natural ingredients (flavor, minerals, vitamins, colors), the Company regularly invests in state of the art production equipments, techniques, and staff training.
|
| Fifth |
To assure the safety of its products, the Company consistently upgrades and utilizes sophisticated analytical equipments to test for pesticide residue and microbiological contamination. To improve the quality, the Company has also implemented GMP, ISO, and HACCP systems in each of the factories. Moreover, Asia Foods has been striving not only to reduce the use of pesticide on conventional frozen vegetables but also to eliminate pesticide through organic farming. In deed, in 1998, Asia Food's Taian Taishan Asia in Shandong province was certified as the 1st frozen organic vegetables processor in China by OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association of USA) and OFDC (Organic Food Development Center of China). It also received the certificate from a JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) approved organic certifier in 2000. From a mere 15 acres of certified organic land in 1997, Taian Taishan Asia by 2005 managed over 3860 acres of land. Production capacity has also increased to over 5,000 tons, while its product offerings have extended to over 30 items. Moreover, in 1999 our factory in Fujian province, Asia Foods Nanjing, received its organic certificate from OFDC for bamboo shoots.

| Sixth |
The Company has been building large-size cold storage facilities so that various seasonal items can be stored properly and shipped in accordance to the customer's needs throughout the year. The Company has also adopted the "frozen belt" concept in which the Company's strategically located factories along the coastal line of China sea (from North to South) have guaranteed such a constant supply of raw materials that the Company has been able to fulfill consistently its customer orders even under adverse weather conditions. |
Despite our consumer's taste and needs becoming more diverse and ever more demanding, Asia Foods has demonstrated its ability to meet these changes given its recent product innovations and business diversification plans. It is the anticipation of these constant changes coupled with the Company's willingness to explore new business opportunities and its commitment to enhance product quality and production efficiency that have earned the Company its prestigious status in the frozen food industry today.
